Office Safety: A Trilogy

The January 19, 2016, issue of ADANews informed readers of a new initiative aimed at environmental and worker safety violations. The alert was prompted by a December 17, 2015, press release by the Departments of Justice and Labor announcing a new plan to more effectively prosecute such violations.

The Departments of Justice and Labor and the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices will work with the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and Wage and Hour Division (WHD) to investigate and prosecute worker endangerment.

The initiative highlights three areas of concern: hazard communication, medical waste management, and hazardous waste management. To facilitate compliance, dentalcare.com is pleased to announce the launch of “Office Safety: A Trilogy.” It is a 3-module online education program for both employers and employees:

Module I - Hazard Communication Compliance (CE502)

Module II - Regulated Medical Waste Management (CE498)

Module III - Hazardous (and Universal) Waste Management (CE499)

The objective is to provide access to best available evidence for an effective office safety program in compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local agencies and professional organizations. The courses are designed to provide employers with the opportunity to establish an ongoing, in-house educational program.

Cardinal strengths of the program include (1) flexibility for establishing an effective in-house program; (2) regular (every 3 years) updating of each module (critically, breaking information can be included in the appropriate module at any time); and (3) the availability of PDF files of each module.

PDF files provide documentation of training content and may be made part of the Office Safety Manual to be used as a ready reference. Finally, documentation of training in the form of a certificate provided by dentalcare.com that can be printed and included in individual training records.
