Gingival inflammation, as seen in periodontal diseases, including gingivitis and periodontitis, can cause alterations in color, texture, and contour of the gingiva.³¹ Healthy gingiva is generally considered to be coral pink in color and in many cases has a stippled (or “tufted”) appearance.
